Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF), a nonprofit domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy resource serving Denton County, is looking for your support during North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 14. DCFOF has already kicked off its #NTXgivingday campaign on social media, with the theme “A Day in the Life”, shedding light on the daily struggles victims of domestic violence and sexual assault experience, and addressing barriers to leaving an abusive relationship. To get an idea of the cost of the vital services DCFOF provides women and children:
- $100 to provide one night of shelter to a mother and her child
- $1,000 to provide groceries at the shelter for one month
- $64 to provide an hour of direct services like counseling, legal consultations, and child therapy.
North Texas Giving Day is Communities Foundation of Texas’ annual 18-hour online giving extravaganza, where the goal is to help build awareness and support nonprofits in the region by making connections with the public and potential donors. More than 2,000 nonprofits, including DCFOF, participate in #NTXgivingday each year.
