The Flower Mound Fire Department is planning to conduct a second prescribed burn on a portion of The Flower Mound sometime between February 12 and 28. Last March, FMFD partnered with The Flower Mound Foundation to plan and execute a prescribed burn on the southern half of The Flower Mound. The upcoming burn will take place on the northern half of The Flower Mound to remove invasive plant species in order to allow native prairie grass and wildflowers to thrive as spring approaches. The prescribed burn will also reduce the amount of flammable material, which will help mitigate any uncontrolled wildland fires in the area. Similar to last year’s event, FMFD will have numerous apparatuses and firefighters stationed throughout the surrounding neighborhood to air on the side of caution.
Residents can expect to see FMFD personnel going door-to-door in the area, notifying residents, and businesses owners of the upcoming prescribed burn. The exact date is yet to be determined, as weather conditions will be the ultimate deciding factor. Please look to the Town's website, and official social media pages (Town of Flower Mound, Flower Mound Fire Department) for updates on an exact date when it has been determined.
